Best program to record skype call?

11 years, 11 months ago - Betty Martins

Hi there! I am starting a new project about the memories of a Brazilian artist and former militant (dictatorship period) in Brazil. I am at the moment in the UK and we will start having few meetings via skype. We tried last night and she already started to share great things, so I thought I should archive these calls and to use as material for the production proposal and even final piece. So I would like to know if anyone knows a good program to record skype calls for both audio and video?

Many thanks!

Best wishes,
Betty

I am using http://voipcallrecording.com/MP3_Skype_Recorder it is free and works very well. If because of your card setings you have problems with stereo you can try in mono and would work.
Some other programs have only 10 minutes for free, I was using this one for many many hrs with out a problem

I actually ended up using VOBurner as the ecamm footage was coming up with a text about ecamm on it (I think because it was the free trial version). I thin VODBurner is working very well, if anybody would like to use it. They record .mov file, just make sure you have headphones plugged.

Hi Betty, use Google Hangouts instead of Skype, choose 'on air' and it records - and even vision mixes for you! Tiny bit fiddly to get your head around - but not that hard.
best, C

I just used a few clips from a skype interview in my new feature documentary. I just locked off a camera on the tripod behind me and filmed the screen after a few adjustments to get the exposure right and set the shutter speed to avoid those nasty interference bands.
It looks a bit raw but suits the scene as it is what it is...a skype interview. I put a few cutaways in showing me chatting to the guy just to establish the space and what was happening. The sound was fine.
I know there's software that can be used to record skype interviews but this worked for me.
Good luck with it!

Hi Betty,

If your on a Mac try this: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder/ and if your on a PC then give this a go: http://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder/

The PC recorder is free and they both work pretty good.

Hope this helps

I've just used Camtasia in my short, which is a good screen capture program- free for 30 days (but costs after)
