Brighton screenwriter

2 years, 6 months ago - Lee Daniel

Hi there
I'm new to shooting People but thought it might be a good place to meet other people interested in making some short films?
And other writers keen on script/ treatment swapping, accountability.

I'm based in Brighton. I'm dabbling in short films while I complete a film making course ( but also write features and TV pilots).

My themes are based around misfits/underclass. I like rich characters from poor wards who struggle to keep it together and are burdened with family dysfunction and legacies. In my 'shorts' - I'm into small domestic scenes that ripple with dark repressed emotions and grapple with the messier aspects of life and death.

So yep...hope to hear from fellow creatives.

If you're not overwhelmed yet, I'd like to join the fun. My focus is on shorts as well. Been writing them for a while and have been riding the competition roller coaster for a few years. I'm on Filmfreeway.com and Scriptrevolution.com if you'd like to know more about my work. Or just message me.

Hi Lee, I’m interested in collaborating on a short that could be made on a micro-budget and explores how people make the decision to get a divorce - impulse or carefully timed? Brave or foolhardy?

Hello all, and a quick question to the admin if I can... Is there still a Brighton Shooters in the Pub?

If there is, and anyone on this thread isn't aware of it, it's a meetup on the first Monday of the month at the Komedia in the North Laine. Really relaxed gathering for anyone interested in filmmaking to discuss ideas and potentially form alliances.

I'm a writer working in video games, but looking to make the odd short, and I'd love to meet up with other film folk, either there or elsewhere. I'd also be up for getting it up and running again if needed...

Hey Mark,
I'm a newbie writer and would be interested in coming along occasionally to share ideas etc. Just need to know times and best(cheapest) places for parking as I'm coming from Ringmer.
Thanks, Rich

Hi Lee,
I'm a novice writer. I'd be interested in making some shorts and talking scripts.

I'm from Ringmer. My writing muse leans heavily towards the other worldly. The supernatural, fantasy, horror, folk tales, fairytales, science fiction.
Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich I am interested in the same sort of genres as you. Supernatural Sci fi and horror. I have not heard anything back from Lee and they keep posting this everyday? Anyway I am always looking material to shoot or just to perform in between jobs to keep my eyes on the ball and practice and prepare for anything that comes up. I have an agent and I have been getting some fantastic auditions as of late but I need something to work on in the mean time. I live near Bognor Regis on a farm which is film friendly also have pretty good equipment mostly because I am interested in the making of short films at the moment. So if you would like to let me have a read of your scripts or stories I sure we meet up and discuss more. My contact details are iaintingley1969@gmail.com. I hope to hear from you soon let's bring some stories to life.

Hello Lee,

Thanks for posting. Your themes strike a chord. Social drama. At the moment I think scripts would be my focus, but the idea of workshopping scenes to develop scripts appeals, one day shoots. I've worked with people who want to direct, actor based directors. If that's where you're headed. I don't want to direct.

I was able to support one micro budget feature. My role was associate producer, which was prompting, supporting, ensuring that we kept going. A couple of years of push.

Hello Lee,

Also, for filming I'd be more interested in making proof of concept shorts to showcase longer scripts for agents, producers. I'm not so keen on standalone shorts as they tend to showcase cinematographers, editors. The challenge for me is to attract a producer to a written script, pilot or feature.

Hi Lee

Love the sound of your film themes. Very Mike Leigh, my kind of films.

Please consider me as a collaborator. I'd particularly like to gain further screen acting credits but also love to write, edit and direct films. My first film has just been released on YouTube. If you search "James Harris Fallen Angel" you should find it.

Kind regards

James
