I haven't used the SP community before so I suppose a brief introduction could be useful:
I'm Rick. I've written and directed a couple of short films - One seems to be lost and the other is going to be made into a music video. I have written several features and all seem to have common traits which I suppose is usual for a writer. The trouble I'm having is that these traits tend to move them away from being standard stuff and the film I want to make is probably the best example of this. What I'm after is people who would be interested in making the film or to point me in the right direction. Or just any sort of advice or input they'd be willing to offer. I must stress that I'm happy with the style of the film and how the screenplay is written.
I'm unsure on the right title for the film just yet but it is based mainly around two characters - The Duke Paolo and Little K. There is a lot of strong imagery and 'ultra-realism' or 'hyper-realism' throughout, as its focus is more on themes rather than a plot, and exploring different aspects of life in the North without anything ever explicitly said. The Duke is almost like a Saint Peter figure and the world he seems to inhibit is a sort of morally ambiguous 'limbo', though he isn't really aware of any of it. The Duke and K come across each other after a particularly fraught event and The Duke takes K under his wing.
This is something I've worked on for a long, long time and I want it to be the first movie I make. As somebody who doesn't work in the industry and with very little contacts, what I'd really like is to get to know people who would be passionate about making this film (and even contribute their own ideas and takes on it) so that when everything is in place, we can get it made as the nature of the script tells me it would be very difficult to go about the usual funding routes.

I've been looking through the generals; some very interesting and useful stuff - I have no idea why I haven't used it before.
It would be a hilarious sight for me to play the bourgeois game. (It's actually probably impossible for a Wiganer...) But thank you for the advice all the same Allan, I'm here to learn and so will take on board everything you say and have a good go !

And look what I've done... completely misread your post. I thought you meant the 'general discuss' section but I've now seen your 'Generals'. Phew, close call - skill, expertise and talent all saved from the back burner !!!

Thanks for the response. It may be Monday morning wooziness that's striking me down, but I'm not too sure I follow what you mean. Could you explain and I'll give it another shot !

Yes I was a bit obscure Rick if you haven't read the earlier discussion on 'generals'. Yes, it was a new one on me too. It seems if you're one of the 'already in' crowd you go to something called 'generals' where you pretend to be a nice guy in order to ingratiate yourself with 'influential people'. I know. Sounds horrendous doesn't it. In other words skill, expertise, talent etc all on the back burner. Just play the bourgeois game. Finger down the throat time.

Go to 'generals' Rick. 'Generals' like recent advice. Yes it's that crap an industry you're trying to break into. What sort of industry is that then? (Yes that is a rhetorical)
