The last time I looked into BFI funding they were encouraging applications for projects that included BAME themes and personnel. That was around 1 year back and I doubt there has been any policy change. https://www.bfi.org.uk/get-funding-support

Sounds like a really powerful and interesting film - and the kind of story we definitely need to hear more of. Do you have the actual link to your crowd funding campaign to look at? There might be some things members could suggest to help with that.

Also check out Genera Films - I wonder if there's a short film version of your idea that you could make first, and get funding for, as many have done before (Super Bob, Whiplash etc) - https://generafilms.com/

Microwave also used to be amazing. They say on their website they're gearing up for a new scheme so it might be worthwhile reaching out (bottom of the page) - https://filmlondon.org.uk/microwave

And finally, there are a few groups that are about championing female filmmakers that might be worth checking out - Girls In Film (https://www.girlsinfilm.net/), WFTV, Primetime (https://primetime.network/) and Female Film Club (https://www.femalefilmclub.com/). I'm not a producer or director myself so I can't speak from first-hand experience on what they can and can't do for you, but they may have ideas about fundraising.

Wow, the video is brilliant. I can really see and feel your passion and why you're telling this story. Gosh - those statistics about women are horrendous. I had no idea.

I remember having a really tough time the one time I tried to crowdfund. It's an art in itself. Have you had the team reach out to as many individuals they know (especially those with followings and access to more humans) to help spread the word, or champion your film? Also, as annoying as it will feel, you need to be on social media and email every single day of your campaign plugging it. It's the only way people will see it. For example, sometimes on Twitter it can take 3+ posts before your follower sees your post.

Also, I hope it turns around and you get an amazing result from this campaign. But if the worst happens and you don't, I highly recommend checking out the team at Greenlit (https://greenlit.com/). They're all wonderful and they are really personable - they help filmmakers create the perfect online campaign and they're specificially for films and creative projects. Worth a look.
