Or, if you're using a Mac, you can actually find pre-existing templates for Pages that do pretty much the same thing.

Other than that, CeltX is very commonly used.

I use Celtx. Only the on-line version requires a fee.

A new contender to the free screenwriting software market is the cloud based Amazon Storywriter. (works as an app inside the Chrome browser).

Writer Duet is the best screenwriting software I've ever used. Free if writing online, infinite time machine style tracking of the document's journey. Paid upgrade for offline work. Enjoy!
