INDEXCan anyone recommend a good scriptwriting seminar or short course?

I'm a relatively new person to scriptwriting and have mostly been studying it through books and online. But I really want to learn from the people with experience who can give vital information that will motivate me to give it a shot. I'm looking for feature film scriptwriting as ultimately I want to write and direct features. Thank you.

I would agree with what Paddy has said, I would also suggest you go to the London Screenwriters' Festival. It takes place over 3 days, 23rd, 24th, 25th October. There are also a couple of courses during the week leading up to the Festival. Check it out: www.londonscreenwritersfestival.com It is well organised and has loads of initiatives to enter. Great for networking too. Chris Jones, the organiser, is a star and very inspirational.

Raindance has some excellent courses that won't bankrupt you. A good networking springboard too. http://www.raindance.org/london/upcoming-courses/

There are a lot of courses for aspirational writers, some concentrate on structure, some on rules of timing, some on dialogue. Raindance run a load, probably worth a look, just beware of becoming a workshop junkie! Ultimately nobody can teach you how to be great and unique, so write, write, write, join a writing group where you crit each other's work, write, write, write...

London Screenwriters' Festival is a must if you can afford it. I'm still reaping the benefits of having attended a couple of them a few years back. Bring lots of business cards and network like crazy.
