INDEXCan you loop 'forever' a compound clip in FCP x?
8 years, 10 months ago - Alexandra Tincu
Hi all! I want to export a Gif I made in FCP X.
All over the web there are tutorials in Photoshop and After Effects showing how to loop 'forever' a clip to make it into a GIF.
However, when I loop it in View - Loop Playback in FCP X the clip does not loop once exported.
Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you.

I'm not a final cut person, so whether this post is useful or not depends on if you want to get the problem solved (eg you have a deadline) or do it the "right" way!
GIMP is a great, open source and free alterative to Photoshop or other packages. If you take the .gif file you have and import it into GIMP as layers, you can adjust the frame timing (or cut alternate frames for compression, or use alpha layers and disposal to optimise), then re-export it with the looping flag switched on. It'll take some getting used to, but can be very quick and you can even set up batch processing if you've a lot of clips to loop

AFAIK you will need to use a third-party app to create the looping GIF from a series of exported JPGs from FCP X. Have you tried using an online resource such as GIFMaker.me? Best of luck!
