INDEXCorrect contracts to enter the Virgin shorts Competition please?
12 years, 2 months ago - Jane Hamer
I wondered if anyone has entered the Virgin Media Shorts Competition and if so what contracts they used for actor/crew/producer and director. I have one actor, one crew and I'm writing, producing and directing the film, but producing is not my best skill. I've seen the copyright waiver form on here for nonpaid collaboration only but I don't want to get it wrong. If anyone can advise or point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Cheers, Jane.

Hi Jane,
You can get a writers agreement on the WGGB website and I think that the DGGB have one too. If they don't email me direct and I'll send you something. As for the cast and crew, all you need is a general agreement which you can get from any Google search (I just tried a Google search for Actors Contract and got a load).
In fact, I don't think you need any contracts for cast and crew for competitions other than for music releases if using copyrighted music or waivers if you go filming members of the public.
Good luck.

Thanks a lot Lee. Yes it would be nice to send them over to you just to double check, that's really kind of you to take the trouble. As soon as I've scanned them I'll email them to you.
Thanks again it's very generous of you.

No problem. If you want me to have a glance over them for any final thoughts I'd be happy to. Send them to my email if you fancy.
Good luck.

Hi Lee,
Thank you so much for your help, it's massively appreciated. From what you say it looks like the contracts I've downloaded from Google are good for what I need then. I think seeing as I'm all three roles: have written the script, producing and directing it, the same contract should be fine for me too. So that's reassuring.
I've got my music licence approval from 'Moby Gratis' already in the bag for use for festivals and the Virgin Shorts Comp; I'm just waiting for location approval now and that's all the legal stuff sorted.
Thanks a lot Lee, it's put my mind at rest.
All the best.
Jane
