Costing film and editing work for charities?

10 years, 6 months ago - Michael Chandler

Hi all
I'm hoping to get a sense of what is a reasonable rate to charge a charity for filming (camera and directing) and editing work.

I've got a good sense of some commercial rates, but am keen to hear if anyone has any ballpark figures for reasonable and fair rates for charging charities - and particularly smaller charities, that have some budget but not a huge one.

Thanks!

I personally take the view that if I do charity work for organisations I like I don't charge at all, except out of pocket expenses. If it's not a cause I'm bothered about I charge as any other job.

Commercial rates, but make them a rebate/donation of whatever you'd like your charitable donation to them to be. Means you're not undercutting yourself, charity so wins, and you can probably gift aid the donation making it worth ~28% more to the charity. My 2p, anyway :)
