INDEXCostume/stand by experience

Hi I have been working in the fashion industry for the past 10 years and I’m looking to get into costume, been talking to a few people and they have mentioned working as a stand by is a great place to get started, would anybody know of some STAND BY JOBS going where I could start? I have a great work ethic and am a very fast learner and have extensive experience in design and pattern cutting. If anyone wants my cv don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Offer your services to people doing shorts, fan films (esp fantasy/sci fi) and music videos.
These people have no money, natch, but the more serious ones will cover your material costs, if nothing else.
Get reels and stills. Get someone to shoot a "designing and making the costume" video for each one. Start a YT channel to show them, and also some more generic costumes/materials/maker stuff.
Network like crazy.
The odds are better for you than most people because you are looking at a niche, so the chance of becoming a name is higher, and if you do, regular work is possible - costume is critical and needs a LOT of planning. You can't just make it up on the fly, so any serious production will always go for the person with a known rep.
