As a UK based production/company registered for VAT, If we get an MG from a distributor (UK or abroad) is this subject to VAT?

Your starting point is at all UK originating revenue is Vattable.
Anything involving other countries, gets messy, fast, and TBH, is why you have an accountant. Sometimes the answer to the question, is to change the question by creating, for example (in some cases, but probably not this one), a wholly owned Delaware company to handle US revenues. But only accountants are up to speed.
