Does anybody have ideas where I start to look for a van to take film kit from London to Republic of Ireland for a November shoot?

I am helping out with a short as PM and am trying to find a way to move some kit for a 3 day shoot in the west of Ireland. This is not something I have come up against before. have spoken with all the main van hire companies I can think of and they all say no to taking a van on the ferry to the Republic. We are on a tight budget of course so trying to think of some way of moving the kit. I have a car myself but it wont take everything.

I have also thought about hiring on location but for other reasons that is now not an option.

Has anybody had to deal with this who might shed some light or suggestions to help me?

Hi just wanted to thank you for responding. In the end found a hire company who allow a van to be taken to Ireland for quite a good rate. Making the drive myself to save on that side of things. thanks all :)

Jo liza, you can perhaps try gum tree. There you can find man with a van for 50 quid per day. If you called one up perhaps you can explain your needs and come to an agreement on financial remuneration.
