I am looking into buying or building a glider for my DSLR, does anyone know someone who makes them or who knows where to buy a good one?
Thanks,

Thanks to all for all the good advice, I will eventually buy one of the good gliders you have recommended and on the meanwhile I will rent. I did try to make one myself but I failed, oh well.
Thanks again for your great advice, Adeline.

I am about to purchase one of the tow above sliders. Value for money vs quality can often be a trade off. These products seem to be good quality and good value. The glide gear slider 235 has a demo video. Good luck.

Hi Adeline - I bought mine (1m) from www.glidetrack.com in Scotland. (cost 350 ish GBP ) I use it on my EOS7D Mk2 & 305 It has performed very well. There are cheaper ones on the market. Most of the equipment companies sell them - 3D Broadcast, CVP, Prestons.amongst others. Cheaper ones tend to stick & not be as smooth - even so a can on "Pledge" or similar is very handy to keep that "smoooooth..." slide . God shooting.

Sliders come in two basic types, rollers and glide ferrules, often called 'Drylin' liners etc. I've tried both and I think the rollers are smoother. But you have to keep the track clean and test first to see if they are noisy. I can't recommend Konova sliders enough. Amazing build quality and smooth and quiet roller action. They come with built in track cleaners that slide along the rails and can be upgraded to crank handle, motor and time lapse options if you get into it. No decent sliders are cheap. The DIY ones you find on ebay etc. aren't likely to have the same quality. As always, you get what you pay for. Konova are probably the best value for money you'll find, but not super cheap. I think Amazon has the best deals on them.

If anyone wants to DIY/modify their own kit, Poundland has sheets of woven PTFE (Teflon) sold as tray liners/pan liners. It's a brown, tight weave, smooth to touch, and very low friction. And an incredible price of a quid for a sheet (years ago when I worked in a glass factory, this stuff was at least 20x the price bought in bulk!), it may help with some new wild designs :-)

Check out a company called rhino slider. They make 4 foot sliders made from carbon or (I believe) steel, depending on whether your looking for portability or one that holds enough weight. They have also just started making a 2 foot slider and sell a range of things to go with them such as pulleys for ultra smooth slides. They have raging reviews and I'm getting one myself. I believe the carbon comes in at around £350 with the carry case.
