The BFI library moved down to South Bank recently (right by their brilliant bookshop) and this is just the sort of thing they're there to help us with. Glad you found a copy, and hope the pitch goes well

Have you tried asking at HMV and the like if they can get it, and have you tried asking your local library?

Most likely though you'll have to get the NTSC copy and transcode it to get the clips you want. It's not as daunting as it sounds as many domestic DVD players will play NTSC content, and then you can play it analogue through a DV device (eg an old mini-DV camera) and capture the digital (DV) stream. Once you have a DV-based copy, any NLE will allow you to pick your scenes perfectly.

This'll give you an excellent transfer far faster than trying to do it with CPU cycles, as you get two custom chips doing the heavy lifting for you in real time.
