Does your Film Freeway profile actually help?

5 days, 12 hours ago - Tina Walker

Hey all –

So I’ve got a couple of shorts on Film Freeway, but honestly my profile is pretty meh – some stills, a trailer, the basics. Never really bothered to make it look all fancy because I figured festivals care about the film, not the digital fluff.

Thing is, my co-pro submitted one of our films, and their profile is even emptier than mine. With deadlines coming up, I started wondering… does anyone actually look at your profile? Does it matter who submits, or is it really just the film that counts? I’ve read stories of programmers noticing a well-put-together profile, but also plenty saying it doesn’t make a lick of difference compared to connections or strategy.

Curious what everyone else does – do you spend time making your FF profile look slick, or just focus on the submissions? Ever had it actually help get your film noticed? Or is it mostly luck, timing, and knowing the right people?

Also if anyone has tips for managing multiple films/accounts without losing your mind, I’m all ears ;)
