Fcp 7 2nd monitor playback not working with Mavericks

11 years ago - Stella Ramsden

Hi everyone.

I'm editing footage shot on the Alexa at prores 4444 2048x1152 24fps on a new MacBook Pro 15" retina screen, 16gb ram, 2.3Ghz.

I've set up the sequence settings correctly, dropped in the footage without any transcoding, and it plays back fine other than that i can't get full screen playback to work on my external monitor.

This is currently connected to the MacBook via the hdmi port- so hdmi to hdmi. I have also tried thunderbolt to DVA adaptor to connect to the monitor's DVA port. I refreshed av devices and have played around with render settings.

I also tried opening the project on my old MacBook Pro 13" which definitely doesn't have mavericks. It didn't playback full screen here either. This is really weird as previously the playback was working fine with an external monitor on both computers. I thought it might be mavericks causing it, but not really sure since it's not working on the old OS either.

Has anyone experienced similar problems.

I am mystified

Hi Andy, sorry for being so slow to get back to you. After half a day of tearing my hair out I realised that I just hadn't checked "mirror" in the audio/video menu, A/V devices tab. Thanks so much for your response all the same.

The MacBook Pro screen is working normally. What is showing on the other screen. What is the other monitor? Does it have sdi or component connectors as well as HDMI? Does an alternative HDMI signal appear on the screen ? Say from a DVD player A
