FilmFreeway Resolution for upload Question

6 years, 9 months ago - Kristopher Williams

I'm wondering about the best resolution to upload my short film to FilmFreeway in.

The short was shot in 2.39:1 at a resolution of 2048 x 858

Now, FilmFreeway recommend these settings:

Maximum video bitrate: 2200 Kbps, H.264, mp4

Audio: 128 Kbps, AAC, 2 channel stereo

Aspect ratio preserved; maximum video height of 720 pixels

Max height of 720, which means they seem to want 1280x720, but I dont want to upload it with black bars and for some reason Davinci Resolve refuses to render at the custom resolution of 1720 x 720 (2.39:1)

So my question is, What resolution did you render at for FilmFreeway if you had a 2.39 ratio film?

Strictly speaking, nobody knows exactly what their back end workflow is, so you might want to play safe instead - and use slugs at 1280x720 as you know *everyone* can play that reliably. Slugs or not is not going to be the reason you're accepted (or not) for a festival!
