Being a huge fan of films but also podcasts I wanted to have a discussion about peoples favourite film and filmmaking podcasts. I have a long list of podcasts that you may or may not have heard of that can be helpful when filmmaking or just enjoying films. I thought I'd share a few and others could add their own favourites to the list or agree/disagree with my own. I find these especially helpful when in a situation were you are either starting out or working alone (like most writers) and you want to either learn more or be privy to a conversation on certain aspects of film:

-Filmmaking-

KCRW The Treatment & KCRW The Business - Two podcasts that approach the industry from different points of view. The former speaks of screenplays and the later is a discussion on the business of making films.

Scriptnotes Podcast - This is a great podcast where two industry experts discuss a topic, answer questions and also give feedback on submitted 3 page scripts.

SModcast: Film School Fridays - Kevin Smith does a one hour podcast different aspects of filmmaking for those who can't afford film school. His other podcasts Hollywood Babble-on and Smodcast are also entertaining and involve fun industry stories.

Nerdist Writers Panel - A live discussion on how the guest writers got into the industry and how they work. Most American television.

-Reviews-
These all have their own brand of how to review and discuss films but way to decide if its for you is to listen to them.

The Empire podcast
Filmspotting
Filmspotting: Streaming Video Unit
Kermode Film Review
Pop Culture Happy Hour (Not just films)
Slate Culture Gabfest (Not just films)
Wham Bam Pow
The Film Programme

-Fun with films-
These are some podcasts that don't exactly review films or provide instruction on how to make them but are a good listen for any film lover.

How Did This Get Made
Doug Loves Movies
James Bonding

The podcasts I favour tend to be ones that offer ideas for films, even just images, or character potentials. I am a particular fan of The Moth (real stories told in 3minutes live), This American Life (excellently produced investigations of a wide range of stories), and WYNC (science based, v.imaginative). All American but I've never found similar british equivelents.

Have you tried Digital Cinema Cafe, The Coloristos Color cast, Slate and in particular the spoiler edition, The Bafta podcast, Barbican film podcast, the Film Talk, and for a little light relief The Tobolwsky Files ?
