Finding camera op work in London - advice

9 years, 7 months ago - Lee Burnett

I've very recently moved to London and would like some advice on finding work as a camera op now I'm here.

I don't know if this is against SP guidelines, in terms of mentioning other platforms for finding work, so sorry if that's the case?

I've had various experience as a DoP / operator on varying projects which normally came from word of mouth where I lived before, but I'm struggling to work out how best to get in touch with people now I'm in a big city.

FS7 owner operator which I'm hoping will bring in some more work as well.

What route would you advise would be the most useful use of my time? Online platforms? Contacting production companies directly?

Thanks for any advice

I'm in the same boat! I've been working in Egypt the last 4 years and now I'm back in London I'm really struggling to get shooter work.

I will watch this thread with interest - many thanks for posting it.

What sort of Operating work are you looking for? Broadcast, Corporate, Drama, Music Videos, Commercials, Fashion films? Which areas?

Should have been more specific in original post.

Preferred areas would definitely be doco, music vid and drama.
