I'm not sure if it was Prano Bailey-Bond or Bryan M Ferguson who I interviewed at one of our Shooter events.
But one of them definitely described 'cracked walnuts' as working incredibly well for a neck twist... :)

I know the sound fx libraries are vast now, but it's so great (and way more fun) hearing about people making their own.

You can get a great sound of a sword unsheathing, by sliding a metal spatula out of a toaster slot.
(Obviously please make sure the toaster is off !!!)

Once saw a YouTube video on a guy who'd used balloons (running your fingers along to get the tension) to imitate car brakes... Genuinely shocked but it really does get that screech down super well!
