INDEXFreelance Writer Looking for Writing Experience!
8 years, 6 months ago - Sarah Pollitt
Hey freelance writer here!
My name is Sarah Pollitt, and I am interested in writing scripts, and just writing in general (novels, poems, songs, graphic novels, plays, musicals, anything that can be written). The genres I am comfortable with are science fiction and fantasy, however I am willing to come out of my comfort zone and experiment with different genres! Looking forward to meeting new people and forging new writing relationships with others!

Hi, I'm Edozie,
I live in South London near Morden and I work in a secondary school as a mentor and Literacy leader. In my spare time I'm a writer.
What have you written so far ? :)
I wrote my first novel in 2013, it's called "The Fathers Day Redemption" and it's on Amazon as an e-book. I was inspired to write it based on some of my experiences working with young people in schools and colleges in London as an academic mentor.
I've also written a science fiction/fantasy short story and some short stories and short scripts in various genres.
Currently, I'm working on my second novel which is based on my experience when I was 18, when I was tricked into going to Nigeria for what I thought was for a two week holiday, then my passport was taken by relatives and I was forced to stay there for 18 months.
It would be great to hear from you...

Hi Sarah and Edozie, I live in Italy and currently thinking about a relocation in UK. I use to write both in Italian and English.
I am considering to turn a short stories I wrote into a screenplay I'd like to direct by this spring, and also to re write again a feature(both in English) I wrote one year ago. I'd like to get in touch for opinions, advice and who ever knows...

Hi Sarah
I have a proposition for you that you may (or may not) find interesting.
I have written a treatment for a film that I would like to shoot but it is in outline only.
Would you be interested in writing the dialogue?
If so get in touch and I will send you what I have written so far for your perusal.
regards
Tim

Hi Sarah,
London Bridge Writers Group is fairly relaxed gathering where you can get constructive feedback and meet other writers.
If you're particularly interested in writing scripts then read as many as you can and write as many as you can.
There are clever ways to do sci-fi and fantasy stories without a mega-effects budget. Figure out how, keeping in mind if you had to make it would you add this, that and the other?
Look for openings in markets: short story completions, publishers and literary agencies sometimes are looking for particular submissions, film makers sometimes want anything from a full script to a script doctor, some theatres specialise in new writing like The Royal Court.
You sound like a story teller. Hone your craft. Have work that is ready to go. Focus. And remember each medium demands different things. Writing a book is a whole leap away from a screenplay. Both have completely different demands, as do stage plays and graphic novels.
Good luck and good writing!

Hi Sarah, my script about a surreal School for the Unexpected is for the first episode in a series, aimed at the BBC for children. I thought you might be interested given your bent for science fiction and fantasy. Happy to send it you if you respond. I lived in Camberwell for over 40 years, and still pop down to London often, though I'm now based in Liverpool. Happy to send it you to see if you are interested in working together. tim.ward@gmx.com
