INDEXFriend wants to get into set design
2 years, 6 months ago - Lynwood Shiva Sawyer
Just realized that all the set designers I know studied either fashion design or interior design.
Are there any courses in set design per se?
What would SP set designers recommend?
I told her that quite a few of the people I know in the indie realm learned on the job, and she is indeed willing, nay, eager to PA for a set designer.
Any leads. Thanks, guys

https://www.arts.ac.uk/ have something I believe. Generally, though, set design is great...but having a good understanding of specific periods etc will be a huge plus, so maybe getting a bunch of history in the mix will be advantageous?

Hi, Paddy,
Many thanks for your response and my apologies for taking so long to respond.
This is great information. I'll forward it onto Aurielie .
Please keep me in the loop if you come across any other events or courses.
All the best and many thanks,
Shiva
Ps. Love your profile picture, which I believe is a camel.

This is quite interesting as I'm in the same boat. I'm venturing into Set Design and I have recently signed up for a 4-day introductory course at UAL here in London. I have also seen that there quite a number of workshops and short courses available. So maybe she can try this route as well
