Hi Everyone
Just wanted to let you know (as a doc maker and trustee of GlobalGirl Media UK www.globalgirlmediauk.org) that we're holding our first GlobalGirl Media Film Festival, online, 18-21 March, 2021.
Please come! It's going to be great!
We're showing 36 short films from 16 countries, made by women of up to 30 years old - all films by, for and featuring young women, telling stories from their own unique perspectives. GGMFF aims to help young women break into the media/film industry, and bring diverse young women's voices to the global stage. (In fact much of the festival has been co-produced by young women student volunteers - a training ground as well as a showcase for the next generation of women filmmakers.)
We'll also show 10 films made by past GGM Academy students, and a pre-release screening of my feature documentary I Am Belmaya, about an uneducated Dalit woman in Nepal who finds her voice through taking up the camera. www.belmaya.com
* inspirational talks by leading women in media, incl Yalda Hakim of BBC World News, Uzma Mir-Young of Turmeric Media, and presenter/producer Zara Janjua
* Q&As with filmmakers
* panel discussions with key industry figures eg Mia Bays and Isra Al Kassi of Birds' Eye View Films
* workshops with Tamara Jacobs on Finding your voice and Developing your story
* review of festival films by TV critic Anna Smith, host of Girls On Film Podcastand Chair of the GGMFF Jury
Tickets £5 Workshop Pass; £10 Film Pass; £15 All-Access Pass
