There are heaps of reputable shops in London where you can buy such items. i.e. Jessops have at least two London stores. Wex has one. Park cameras have one.

And some of the larger department stores might stock that particular camera, such as John Lewis.

Be aware if you'll pay the tax-inclusive price, but may be able to recover the VAT - ask before you purchase. This one is from Park for instance Can I reclaim the VAT?
We do operate the VAT reclaim scheme. However, completed VAT reclaim forms cannot be supplied for goods sent out by mail order. This is UK law but we are able to supply you with a form for purchases made in our branches. We supply this form free of charge for sales over £400. We have to see your passport and proof of address overseas and when you leave the country you need to get the form stamped at the airport and send the stamped form back to us.

You will always get the best prices anywhere from B & H or Adorama in NYC ( both have it back-ordered). If you could rent for the time being I would hold off buying in the UK. There are many very good rental houses in London that may be able to help you out.

I have a personal salesman at Adorama who has been with me for many years. My own experience has been one of outstanding personal service, many times getting an even deeper discount than advertised, and quick professional service that makes my job easier. I've also never had anything but a good experience at B & H.
