Good screening venue for a London premiere

12 years, 7 months ago - Ivo Marloh

I'm planning to do a premiere / c&c screening of my feature documentary next year early March. My top favorite venue would be Bafta, but it seems really hard to get a reasonable price out of them unless I book last minute (within 2 weeks of the date). Otherwise they ask for 6k for their theater and bar. The project involves a lot of people from all over the world, and I would really like them to go somewhere special, not a nondescript generic venue, so if not Baftas, then where else could we go and not completely blow our budget? We need to accommodate around 150 to 200 people. All ideas welcome!

We often use http://www.princecharlescinema.com/html/hire_rates.php I believe the Curzon Soho is in a similar price range.

If you're not planning on selling tickets for the event, there are lots of good private-hire venues such as Soho Screening Rooms, Doubletree Hilton on Great Marlborough Street, screening room at the National Portrait Gallery. Or take a look at http://screeningroommap.com/london/

Good luck!

Thanks so much everyone, thanks Cath, I'll have a look at that. Really really trying still to get some reduced deal with Bafta for our premiere, but it's not looking super likely at the moment and I'm not about to crowdfund the entrance fee...

OK. Update:
Contact Mandy at Soho House - we've talked about special and affordable deals for Shooters at the Aubin Cinema in Shoreditch. Capacity not as big as you possibly need but talk to Mandy anyway. Has a wonderful bar, staff are brilliant, lovely cinema.

Tell her you are a shooter - here are the details:

Hi all
We're looking into getting discount price for all London shooter members at some key venues. This stuff is so expensive. We then want to look at NY and also regions in UK. We'll let you know soon.
