Grade or VFX first?

Hi Shooters,

I am in post production for my latest short film and haven't really worked with VFX before.

A few Colourists I have worked with recommended I start grading the film first before applying VFX... However others recommend I start with VFX then apply grade afterwards.

Please could someone clarify which do I start with first, grade or VFX?
