Had over 60 screenings of a self made campaign film - distribution possibilities?

10 years, 8 months ago - Philip Davidson

This film has proved to be a very different type of campaign film and very popular amongs thousands of ordinary people in dozens of public screenings. Almost everyone seems to like this film, some saying it has affected them profoundly, some saying it is a masterpiece. It is however basically an amateur film being almost entirely self made and that is part of its charm. Of course this causes difficulties to established norms as well as opportunities. Any suggestions for distribution?

I've not watched it, but the title suggests it's about Fracking. There are plenty of lobbying interests on both sides of the campaign, I would talk to one of them about promoting it.

Can we possibly see this veritable masterpiece, my dear fellow?

Is there a charity/body that deals with the campaign subject? Their endorsement may help. If it's taking real money, though, Dogwoof may be the kind of distributor you could approach

I suggest you watch it because it is precisely because it doesn't fit into the regular boxes and that is what makes it popular and also (maybe) difficult. The WI's and Royal British Legions are promoting ,not the people you would think would be interested. There was quite a big screening in London recently where the audience cheared wildly and discussed it intensively. There was a representative of a major anti fracking organisation who remained poker-faced throughout. They simply could not understand that ordinary people liked this film - all their films turn people off. That is what makes the film innovative.
