Hiring a producer

11 years, 11 months ago - SP User

I have a sci-fi film project I have been trying to get off the ground for some time. I think I need the advice or services of an experienced producer in the UK.

I would hire the person for a day or two so we can iron out what I need to do in order to make this project viable.

Any advice from those with experience would be appreciated. The trailer is here: http://tidyeyefilms.com/blight/

Great to see you're thinking pragmatically! However hold off paying anyone for a while until you're in a stronger financial position.

A PM can help you work out your budget level, a producer can help explain the tax schemes and engage crew and cast for you, but it's going to require a chunk of real money to make any film, and you'll need to find backers for it. The date of corporate backers coming in at 100% are either gone or never existed. A producer or PM can help optimise the spend and give a drawdown schedule, but they rarely have access to big money. This means you'll be looking for percentages everywhere to try to get financed. It can be a long job.
