INDEXHow best to work with a PR professional on a low budget project?

I have used PR people a number of times and often felt the results did not reflect the fee we paid. I am about to go again but I wonder what others think, whether even a DIY approach is better, or more specifically are there any tips for how to get the best out of a PR professional charging possibly quite high rates and therefore giving fairly limited numbers of days for the project?

It would be helpful to elaborate on why you felt the results didn't reflect the fee. Did you have an agreement with them spelling out in plain English what was required? Did they tick each and every box of your requirements? If not, they how did you manage the short fall with them?
Maybe the agreement, verbal or written, was too ambiguous and therefore they weren't sure exactly what was required.
