INDEXHow can I get producers and agents to read my TV pilot?

I've written a pilot episode for a TV series, and I'm looking to get it into the hands of agents and producers, but of course most aren't interested in reading unsolicited material, and my day job working in fact-ent hasn't opened the doors to anyone who might change that.
I will of course be pitching it in competitions etc, and I know the BBC Writers Room window is back open, so I'll be gunning for that, but if there's anyone out there who has an idea, or is in one of those positions and would like to know more, I'd love to hear back from you.

Hi Ben. There's no set route, but persistent and bold networking is the next step. Prep and rehearse pitches of different lengths - 20 words, a 60-second version - in case you bump into someone influential at a networking session. Or in a lift.
Also, have a think about what kind of shows your script is similar to. Find out who produced those similar shows (check the end credits or IMDb) and then email those companies with a log-line to see if they bite. I met a producer recently who said that while everyone says they don't accept unsolicited material, many in fact do (unofficially) as they're desperate for new ideas. Either way, you've got nothing to lose in having a go.
And, of course, keep writing new stuff rather than spending forever focussing on one idea. If someone suddenly likes your work (which they will eventually if it's good), they're likely to ask what else you've got.
