How do I make a realistic-looking clothes shop?

11 years, 4 months ago - Gavin Ricketts

I'm producing a film for a client. it's based in a clothes shop. The shop will look cool and fairly sparse, but we still need that sense of multiples of product on the shelves, ie three stacks of jumpers, with two in black, two in red, two in blue.

We can go to Primark and buy a whole bunch of stuff and take the labels off, but that would still be fairly expensive. We might be able to return the products after, but approaches to press departments of those stores is slow.

I'm not sure if hire companies can provide clothes in multiples etc to give this look.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Gavin

Hire companies are not cheap, the Primary option is probably cheaper.

But maybe work talking to product placement agencies if they can loan/give you some stock from any brands on their books?

Charity shops have loads of clothes and usually shut early so make a donation and ask they to stay open for you. Move the clothes rails to suit the shot. They won't mind, unlike a big store. The clothes won't look second hand in shot. Just move them to suit. AND you will have supported a charity plus give them a credit.
