INDEXHow does Adobe Story compare to Celtx?

Hi,
Was wondering if their are any writers who have used both programmes, which one they prefer and why?

Hi David,
I haven't used Adobe Story but I've used the free version of Celtx which has worked great for me.
A screenwriter friend of mine recently recommended trying out Amazon's new free screenwriting software, Amazon Storywriter - and it's actually pretty good! (Which is high praise from me)...
You can test it out here: https://storywriter.amazon.com
I've only just started using it, and I was a bit sceptical at first... but I love how it syncs up on all my different devices, and it's really easy to get started on. I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts on it if you do test it out :)
Did you decide on on Adobe Story or Celtx in the end?
It would be great to know what other screenwriting software Shooters are using?...

I looked at Amazon Storywriter. Very very basic - it's useful for formatting, that's about it. No spellcheck. No find function, no replace function (what if you decide to change a character's name?). No WYSIWYG or force page breaks that I could see, so character and dialogue can get separated on turnovers. No headers and footers.
Come on Amazon, you can do better. I mean, look how smooth, sophisticated, intuitive and user-friendly you've made IMDB and Withoutabox...
Me, I've created a template in Word. I could use styles, but actually I normally do a bulk format-paint after a free-flowing drafting session. The main drawback is that Word's Courier font is very light. To get round this, I might consider exporting a finished draft into Amazon or Celtx, to save a slightly bolder pdf.

Hi Xenia,
I've always used Celtx, which you can also use via the Cloud. Having said that I have had issues with drafts not saving across devices and then reverting back to older versions, therefore losing pages of script. Pretty much a writer's nightmare.
Hi Glyn,
I used to use Word but I've never found it very helpful when it comes to writing fiction in any format. Probably didn't get technical enough with it but I just want to write.

No mention of the dreaded Final Draft here... Fade In Pro is the best there is in my opinion, certainly worth the £50 with all the free updates
