How much does it cost to rent a live deer?

Hello Shooters,

So I have written a short, which breaks that major rule of working with kids or animals by having both kids AND animals in.

The animal in question is a deer (there are in fact two - a stag and a doe). While I'm weighing up the various options of how to bring the animal to life, I was just wonder if anyone had ever rented an animal of this size from an animal supply company, and if so, what was the expected price per day?

Or if you have a pet deer, let me know!

Cheers,

It may depend on how much you want it to perform, how tame it is, etc. If it is expected to nuzzle up to a human in a wide shot in a woodland, it will need to be both tame and trained. If it's just for long shots running wild as incidental background you may be able to film at a deer park.

As a rule, you pay to rent the animal, its trainer/handler, the transport, provide stabling, maybe other support crew etc. If your daily budget for animals is under a few hundred quid, you might benefit from thinking around the problem
