How to Change fonts of SRT subtitles for VIMEO.

6 years, 6 months ago - Sergio Falchi

Dear all out there,

I need to fix the subtitles document (SRT) into a more suitable format for VIMEO before release my short online abd also to embedd it into my in development site.

SRT is supported but the standard fonts are ugly and too big...VIMEO recommend the WEBVTT files.

There is a simple way to convert SRT into VTT?

Anybody knows a program able to allow me (or the editor) to change and choose subtitles font, shape, background color etc?

Thank you so much :)

Hi, the Webvtt format is pretty well documented for the styling.
see https://www.w3.org/TR/webvtt1/#introduction

You can work out how to style the font and colours and other effects you want to apply using that info. I dont know of any special tool that will do it for you sorry unless your current subtitle editing software can do it and generate more formatted SRT files?

The SRT format itself is text readable so you can edit it in a text editor to make the changes you need.
I found this online tool for converting the WebVTT from SRT but they look almost identical if you dont have any markup defined already:

good luck
Mark
