How to get Netflix to read my screenplay?

6 years, 3 months ago - Buppha Wittaya-Amponpunt

How do I get Netflix, Amazon, studios, and the like to read myscript and produce my film? Do you have to be a professional writer or have a long credit and an excellent track record for them to care?

I thank you in advance for your help.

Netflix

If you have an idea, script, screenplay, or production already in development that you'd like to pitch to Netflix, you should work through a licensed literary agent, producer, attorney, manager, or entertainment executive who already has a relationship with Netflix.

And that's pretty much the rule. The big headline companies aren't dealing unknown writers. They are dealing with known writers, known producers and unknown producers who have done work that attracts attention.

So - get an agent. To get an agent, be the writer of something that gains awards worth having at festivals. Or write a novel, become a known writer that way, and move it back to screenplays. OR touch base with Producers and see if what you have is what they are looking for.

As Marlom says, really. Netflix don't make TV shows, they commission TV shows.
