how to raise a budget?

5 years, 5 months ago - Victor De Almeida

Hi!

I have written/directed/produced 5 short films, and by the end the year my involvement in short film productions as either a director, writer or producer will total 9 short films.

I now feel capable to really progress and start making features. I have a script that I think wouldn't need any more than 60k-80k to be produced, how would I go about raising the budget?

I know there are competitions and Funds with the BFI but these are highly competitive and chances of getting these are pretty low so whilst I will still apply, how can I go about approaching financiers, production companies or lone producers?

Thanks for your help!

Hey Victor, might be worth having a look at Opportunities > Funding on SP, there's a few more options outside of BFI that might be helpful in at least partially funding your project. Might be worth to also keep an eye on industry and pitching events which can help get your project in front of financiers.
Good luck!
