7 years, 6 months ago - Sahera Khan

I am a Director but I have also Co-Director as well.

It would be my first time as a Director.

I am looking for a female Producer for a short film to assisting the funding.

The short film would be under 10 minutes.

At the moment my script finished but someone will polish it up soon.

I just prepare to seeking the producers before I send my script.

I am hoping any producer have any experience working with deaf or knowledge basic deaf awareness but it is no essential.

It would be an ideal in London.

Hi Sahera,

If you've not already, I recommend posting into 'Production' > 'Get People' if you're looking for collaborators. This will be the most effective way of finding other shooters who might want to work with you on your project.

Best of luck with it.

Hi Helen

Thank you for your helping.
The problem is I have no budget.
I would like to post on Get People I would to say I don't know how much I would pay a producer before I send a script first. If a producer is interested, do they would seeking the funding or they rather to be expect be paid first.

Please advise.

Hi, The problem lies with people asking a producer to help without pay, who wants to do that? I am just a small independent production co and get st least one script a week, big cos will get thousands of unsolicited scripts. What you perhaps mean is you need someone to find you money not just produce the film or do you want someone to take it on, a production co who will do everything from Cast to crew and find the money, get it into film festivals etc, but let you Direct it. Very few experienced producers will do that on a short film or even a feature. Either seek collaboration with a contract sharing any profits (unlikely) or you can pay a funder to find the money for you. They may want up to 50% of the money raised.
However I suggest producing it yourself. I did that on my first short films. Produce and Direct, get other crew and Cast involved. At least pay them all travel and decent food and crowdfund for your budget.

Hi Jane

Wow. Thank you for the useful information. It is so kindly for your advise.

I would suggest my short film would be non-commercial or maybe commercial but I would like to seeking a producer but I can negotiate the fees to pay them before they like my idea or not.

Like applying London Calling funding next year it must be including producer.

ALl the best.

Hi Sahera,

Jane made some really good points about finding a producer when you don't have a budget. It's tough. However, I understand that you are looking for a producer to collaborate with at this early stage, so you have a team for development/funding schemes such as London Calling.

Again, I suggest you post into Production > Get People. Give as much information about your project as you can, and you can say you're offering expenses only (this is a minimum).

Once you find a producer who loves and supports your idea, you can work together to start thinking about where you could apply for money, or as Jane suggests, whether something like crowdfunding might be an option.

Good luck with it, Sahera, and do be sure to list it on the site.
