Can anyone recommend some festivals to enter it to please? Ideally ones with 'microfilm', 'shot on iphone', etc categories

Just put 'smartphone' and 'devices' into the search engine on Filmfreeway.com (as well as any of the words you used) and you get a load of choices. There seems to be many more in the USA and Canada (especially Toronto) than in the UK. Good luck!

Hi Ben, We also recommend depict! and it's free to enter. London Short Film Festival have a low budget competition for films under 5 mins, and Hamburg Short Film Festival have a great 3 minute quickie competition. Good luck!

Hi Ben, we/ Shiny Awards also welcome smartphone films - any films under 5 minutes. You also get feedback from three of the commercial industry companies in our huge jury network, as part of the entry fee https://www.shinyawards.com/about#9.
Plus if your entry is rated highly by the jury, it will screen at one of our interim industry events in London or LA.
