You could have a look here: https://www.skwigly.co.uk/. Or there's cartoonbrew.com. Try the British Film Institute (when we're allowed out again). They have quite a good section on animation in their bookshop. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of interest in animation at Shooting People unfortunately. Then again, I think I'm a bit like you, I'm not a huge fan of social media. Animation can turn you into a hermit!

Hi Simon. I've been thinking the same. I downloaded the creative cloud recently and was using Illustrator to draw. I'm trying their animation software which is called Animate. There is a special discount on the cloud if you are a teacher or a student. I will have a look at Lloyd's links as well. Any tips you find out on your journey, please do pass on.

Hi Simon, Shooting People does have an Animation section (see the Categories column on the right of this message thread), you might find some potential collaborators there.
But the first thing to ask is - what kind of animation do you want to create? Animation takes many forms: 2D, drawn or painted, or animated in software on the computer, which might be classical character animation as done by Disney, or entirely abstract and anything in between; 3D or CGI: stop motion, table-top model or object animation, as produced by Aardman; pixelation, the frame by frame animation of people or things, as sometimes done by Norman McLaren; animation done directly on clear acetate film, as done by Len Lye and so on. Essentially, what visual style or look do you have in mind?
The second question, if you intend to create a narrative film, is do you have a script, outline or source material? Depending on the kind film you want to make, a script isn't necessarily essential. Some of my own films have been based on documentary observation, from which I went straight into storyboard, without a script. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
The answers to these two initial questions will determine how you proceed from there.

There is free animation software called opentoonz that I believe Studio Ghibli have used. When you do get it together I would be happy to do some music for you on spec.

Richard Williams (creator of The Pink Panther among other things) published The Animator's Survival Kit a few years ago - well worth reading. Jason's great suggestion of free software is worth investigating also. Check out Blender: https://www.blender.org/ if you're interested in 3D.

Yeah made an account looks great, but what if I just want to collab and come up with the idea and script? can I do that, since I can't really draw.

No harm in asking people, I guess. But you'll need some convincing reasons to persuade anyone to get involved as they will be working on their own stuff already if they're not employed by a studio. The great thing about animation though is that if your ideas work you can use quite simple visuals. Have a look at the work of people like Phil Mulloy and Signe Baumane for example. But like Mario said earlier it really depends on what kind of film you want to make.

Here is a free app for total beginners which you can run on your phone/tablet.
Very good for getting acquainted with the process be it working with objects, puppets, or traditional drawings.
