Hi there,
I am working on a music video and I was wondering if I could get hold of footage that has already been shot, like news footage or something of that sort. I have never used this kind of footage before so I do not know if there is a like a free source or it has to be paid, what is the process..ect If anyone has had experience in this field and knows a about this it would be very helpful information.
Many thanks,
Adeline.

News footage? Every citizen journalist posting to YouTube is a copyright holder so if you can find stuff that suits, you can just ask them direct and see what they say.
I've had two docu makers ask me for permission to use my own YT vids and have agreed at no charge both times. It's nice to be asked. Though in both cases they never came back to me, so I've assumed it wasn't used. If I ever see the docus and there IS my footage in it, they will go in my list of "rude ungrateful bastards". So if you get permission and use it, keep them up to speed and give them any credit they want. (Some people in dangerous areas might not want a real name credit...).

Otherwise, if you want actual news agency clips, fully cleared, itnsource is a good starting point but be aware it costs real money.

More footage than you could ever want! But you have to negotiate prices with clip owners.

What exactly is the footage? What are you asking for? News? Documentary? Movies? They are all different. If there is a shot you want, or a sequence of shots make your edit with the originals then reshoot them yourself, or get someone here to do it. Get each shot graded to match and it's done economically. If it's a music video for a band use them as the actors in the footage. Don't forget the strap lines, bugs and captions. But use fake TV stations not cnn and BBC. I did this in a short film and the soldier in Afghanistan was actually in Fulham. Try to match the framing, the lighting, the angle and the camera shake. Good luck
