With the Bay City Rollers? You need to be very careful about what you say unless (at bare minimum) the BCR are aware of, and approve of, your efforts. All it takes is minor twitter buzz about people looking forward to funding/seeing the exciting new BCR movie and before you know it you have their very surprised managers saying "who do yee think yee are, Jimmy". (I can do this, my family is from Glasgow).

Indeed, as previously suggested, there's no starting point if you don't do some deals before going public. True, they probably cannot stop you from using their music, but do you know what the publishing company want for the rights? Have you considered an OST as a minor revenue stream, in fact? Do the band like the script? Do they want to do some cameos, or even a top and tail doughnut 'I remember back in the day...~~~wavey lines ~~~' segment you can use?

Sorry - OST Official SoundTrack (a CD of the film music, any special recordings, etc).
Doughnut-style top and tail - think Titanic, the modern Rose on the search boat story was all just to set up the historic story - it's how the film started and ended then the bit in the middle (of the doughnut) is the historic story, well set up and gives you a (crude) vehicle to go back in time and provide a shape to an otherwise potentially shapeless story.
