I thought I'd share my short film 'Blocked' with you all, which I made as part of the great straight8 competition:

'Blocked' might seem like a silly little film (and it is), but to me it represents so much more. Although this is one of my smaller scale short films, this is by far the toughest short filmmaking experience I've had. What was initially meant to be a quick simple project ended up taking months of my life, many £££'s and a lot more blood, sweat, and tears than I expected.
We faced a panoply of issues from beginning to end (which I won't bore you with) which culminated at the end of the incredibly stressful shoot day in the discovery that the camera had jammed and we hadn't recorded anything all day (safe to say I now have trust issues with super8 film).
Anyway, I'm just happy to be able to share this film with others and hope if anything it can serve as an inspiration to keep on going even when all you want to do is give up. All of us have faced our challenges and setbacks in our filmmaking adventures, but we power through!
Does anybody else have any filmmaking horror stories, stories of setbacks and hopefully triumphs? Would love to hear how you all overcame tough filmmaking situations!
I hope you all enjoy the film. It's really ridiculous and it's not perfect, but I'm still pretty proud of it.
