Shawn, if you have £100 and you want to make a movie, you need to write a £100 movie. Actually you need to write a zero budget script and spend the £100 on the wrap party :-)

BTW, I am not being sarcastic. The fact that you have no money means you have to write a script that will work as a movie even if it's shot on low end kit.

So let's see, premise ONE "it's all Found Footage" so of course it looks like it was shot on a cheap camcorder. So now your script is "what's on the found footage"? Hmm, perhaps a serial killer recording his crimes (I hate gore crap but some love it), maybe it documents a family over several years of birthdays and Xmases and from that we see the dynamic and relationships, (art enough for Cannes if you do it right).

What it won't be is "geordie gangsters racing across the Tyne Bridge chased by coppers". You just can't do that movie justice on your budget.

Shawn,

Get good professional crew moderate size 10 15 people good operaotr/s DOP / Continuity / editor - I'd be happy to light / Operate if you would be interested?

get your script format correctly on Final Drift / Celix because it can distract actors and crew when its incorrect. Have good storyboards that given a good essence of the shot / atmosphere of the scene/s. - plan to take longer than you might think 3 / 4 day 10 / 15 pages and longer the script ....

get location / crew / cast release forms as required.

Hope this is helpful and best of luck feel free to email @ screen007682@yahoo.co.uk / or look at sp profile or on linkedin also.

Regards

John

Do whatever your strengths are. If a writer, write. If a producer, produce. If an actor, act.

But what you really need to decide, what's your budget? Because your budget is however much of your own money you are willing to risk. Forget about other people's money. If you need other people's money, write a cheaper script.

Limited? How limited? £100? £1000? £10,000? £100,000? (and yes £100,000 IS a very limited budget if you are trying to do something that really needs 500K).

Money matters - look at your questions so far, in practice the answers have pretty all had a subtext of "how much money do you want to spend?".

cheers

Don't Direct your movie. Seriously, if you have to ask that question in this forum, the one thing you do know is that you can't direct a movie.

So, now decide what you REALLY want to do, and what roles you need other people for, people who have skill and experience in those roles.

If you really want to sell a script to someone (studios, basically) look up ISBN number 978-1-4391-8676-3 written by 2 guys who've grossed around a billion and a half at the box office -it's not about arthouse films, it's about wiring and selling. Very easy to read and a bit irritating in places but also packed with bare essentials.

I would love to have 1000's of pounds to spend on making my movie but at the moment it would probly be about £100 I know you cant do much with a budget like that.
What I'd really love is to sell a movie one day and see someone do it justice..

my budget is pretty limited and I thought I'd write a script that if I was going to make would fit into a do able range for me not needing major FX and stuff .
I love the writing as Im writing one script another one is flying around my head.
