Looking for advice on insuring my upcoming short film.
Best companies to go with and what coverage should I get.
Thanks for any advice.

I've just had a quote from Essex Insurance for a one day shoot. We're using our own kit so we only need 3rd part liability and employers liability - £116. All very easy and straightforward.

At a very minimum get public liability (if you get sued for someone falling over your cable) and a policy sufficient to cover hired-in equipment. Essex insurance brokers seem to be a popular choice for shorts.

Essex in the cheapest and best I've used - the cost will be dependent on that value of equipment you're renting (if any).
If you're borrowing a friend's kit, might be a good idea to get that covered as well if they don't have their own insurance - just in case anything get damaged/stolen.
Though if you are shooting even just a few times throughout the year, annual insurance is much better value for money.
