Hi, I am considering signing to a union for insurance & advice/training. Has anyone signed up to or others? Any tips welcome. Thanks Nathalie

Yes. I'm in BECTU. You get Public Liability Insurance. Access to training courses and legal advice and assistance.

I'm not a union member, until recently I thought them unnecessary in 2017 now we have things line the HSE and minimum wage, holiday, etc legislation (things the unions fought for and bless them for it), but a recent experience convinced me that there's still a place for collective dealing with someone who is failing to pay.

Thanks Mark & Paddy. I wish had joined before when was in at MTV & made redundant but now as a freelancer think more important esp re H&S & liability etc but I do know can be issues as was not
represented when took redundancy elsewhere. I will call them. Thanks
