ASK & DISCUSS
INDEXIs it because I am a Brit Asian that my postings and now even a question I posted were pulled down?

I am SICK of this! The last time I posted on Bulletins was around a couple of years ago. I lost appetite coz they kept being pulled down for not meeting some sort of criteria. Now Shooting People is saying I should be 'more to-the-point way'. What way? Demure? Non-Asian? Male? Legal secretaries'? I am a writer director for heavens sakes! Why am I NOT free to ask or express myself in which ever stupid way I choose? Is anybody OBLIGATED to read my question/posting and get annoyed that their day is totally ruined by my non-white stupidity?

Well I dont appreciate my question being taken down 2 minutes after I had posted it. Furthermore if this has been an isolated incident I wouldnt have thought too much about it. But as I said, my posts have routinely never seen the light of day that I had given up reading ShootingPeople for the last two years.
You say you want to be helpful but is not helpful at all to keep deleting my posts and my single question based on your own standard of what is comprehensible or otherwise. The fact is you NEVER gave my question a chance. You want to set your own standard of writing a post or question while the world out here is varied and colorful. You assume that if you cant understand what I am saying, nobody would and that for me is rather precious.
In my view my question was fast, concise and straight to the point. It is not demure I must admit but then again I am not demure and I dont speak like THIS in real life. I am in the 'field' for 18 months now and it behooves me that anyone should expect me to put on a couture dress and do an Eliza Doolittle and speak a certain posh way. That is the patronizing part.
And WHY would I post on discuss when I have constantly been CENSORED?

And you seriously think that I myself didnt want a 'good response' to MY OWN desperate question 10x more than you? Let me get my couture dress and speak sedately like Eliza post-Higgins when I'm ready. Thank you

Is it tough out there? It certainly can be. Very, to be honest. Especially when real money is involved.
But as for your 1) above, doesn't your 2) somewhat suggest a solution? If you're convinced SP is rejecting you purely on race grounds (it does seem extremely unlikely they would not pick on all the other races represented here), then cancel your sub and move on. It would be a shame, but there we go. Every story has 2 sides, usually a third as well, it's sad to see this being played out in public.

We want you to post whatever you want, but we know what will get a good response. We also want to make things easy to find through our search function for others looking for the same information.
If you choose not to take the advice that is also fine, you can simply re-list your question.
Your previous posts to the bulletins would only have been rejected if they missed out any of the key bits of information listed in our guidelines, we're not in the business of censorship and I can assure you it's not personal.

Hey Nusrat,
It has nothing to do with any of the things you listed. The Ask section of our website is a really useful tool and we want to make sure people will answer all of the questions on here. Asking simple to-the-point questions encourages more people to respond. We also post all of the Q and A's in our bulletin for others to use as a resource.
If you'd like to express yourself at length we have a discussions board here: www.shootingpeople.org/discuss, although we don't appreciate being accused of racisim or sexism, we're just trying to be helpful.
The posting guidelines for the bulletins are also on our site for you to read at any time shootingpeople.org/help/postingguideline...
If you think any of the guidelines are un-reasonable please do let us know and we'll review.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Paddy, 1)Its something between me and SP that has dragged for a few years
2) Yes you havent seen the question. Everybody is free to ...walk away...walk away...
3) Is it really cruel out there? I'll have to be brave and get out of my bedroom soon to see for my self!

Nusrat, making out it is some kind of race issue is pretty insulting to other members to be frank.
I haven't seen your questions, but if they were incoherent then why would members have to wade through deciphering them when a straight forward question would do? We're in the communications business, so pay off that is understanding your audience and framing accordingly. That applies for questions, responses, films, scripts, etc. As a writer and a director you must understand the importance of good communication skills!
I seriously doubt SP are trying to censor your free expression on any website other than their own, where they have a house style and semi-curated discussion boards. That curation is a part of what makes people here take time to volunteer answers, knowing they're not wasted in a long list of the usual inane guff you see on unmoderated forums. If they suggest you reframe your question to the house style it's for a reason, don't take it so personally (or you'll never cope with the level of rejection you'll discover in the bigger industry world! )
