A friend of mine recommended the iFilmfest app for iPhone. It's free and claims to list 300 festivals. I only downloaded it the other day so haven't had a chance to check it properly, but he swears by it.

There isn't one database for all festivals unfortunately. I use these 3 services: filmfestivallife (my favourite one, has pretty much all the main major festivals both European and American), withoutabox (mostly American festivals), filmfreeway (has some big ones but it is mostly a platform for lower rank festivals). Other big additional platforms: reelport (mostly European festivals), shortfilmdepot, clickforfestivals.
