I really need help to kickstart my carrier. I'm taking a gap year to gain experience in acting especially in movies because this is something I've always dreamed of. If any recommendations you have please do not hesitate to share it with me in an answer, thank you!!

As well as all the usual actory things (auditions, beseeching agents) I'd suggest networking like mad, esp where producer, directors, crew and writers might be found. The easiest way to get cast is for someone who once met you to think, some months later and re a totally different project "she'd be perfect, must contact her". Have a business card to hand out.

Work for free on projects that interest you, will be good for your showreel, and won't leave you much out of pocket. (Your profile says Paid Work Only).

Feel free to avoid no pay screaming blonde girl zombie/horror/slasher fests if you have anything better to do, BUT you never know how useful the networking opportunity they represent might be, so don't dismiss them out of hand, esp if you are otherwise free.

You're pretty. Be keen to do things that allow you to play against that, or at least downplay it.

Try Character based Stand Up - you'll probably want someone to write for you but open mics and clubs allow you to start with a short set. If they love you, you'll love it. If they don't, it'll be character building :-)

Practice at home. Film yourself doing pieces to camera, set yourself tasks, and review the results until you know that you're good.

Understand that castings are brutal and it's not (usually) you failing, it's that they simply didn't see you in the part. I think actors need to have a hide like a Rhino.

If you can afford it, think about producing your own shorts - get some low end kit and do small shorts NOT to win prizes etc but just to Do Acting. If you can afford it, consider getting extra skills - being able to ride a horse or tango or parkour or fence or play drums or drive an HGV might be the thing that makes the difference when you are on that shortlist for a part.

Understand that right now, you don't have a career. You have a job, and your job is to get you to the place where you might be able to get a career. So it's something that you should be spending 40 hours a week on.

Good luck
