Jason Brubaker's "How to sell your movie" - worth the money?

10 years, 4 months ago - Stephan George

Hi all,
a potentially very basic question. Howtosellyourfilm.com is one of those websites offering ebooks for $$$ promising you all infos about distribution. As I few people pointed Jason brubaker out to me, did anyone actually read it, or is it simply a big scam?

Bit of a punt, really. He's offering you the 'secrets' of putting your film on a website and charging for views, not selling through conventional channels. Conventional sales are still the only route to being in the cinema, so it's up to you what you want. It's true that a lot of money gets soaked up by various people the traditional route, but going solo are you going to have the same reach and end up doing all the work the other guys were doing in your own time anyway?

He may be spot on, he may have the perfect formula for recouping production costs and making real profits online, or he may be selling courses because those sales aren't large enough to pay for production costs and he needs an extra revenue arm. Bit of a punt. Is it a $97 punt? That's up to you.
