ASK & DISCUSS
INDEX'Library' footage.

This is the second time of asking folks, presumably I got lost somewhere in the system. I would like an answer to this as I don't even know if it's a stupid question. I 've recent;ly written a short story as part of our Creative Writing group at the Alton U3A and would like to turn it linto a short screenplay IF there exists such a thing as 'library' footage that's accessible to mere mortals like myself. i know US film makers were alleged to use it all the time in ;war films etc but maybe they had a privileged 'in'. My story will only make a viable screen p;lay with the addition of shots of road accidents, sirens, ambulances perhaps even people screaming. Assuming such might be available - somewhere - is it possible to access it?

Yes it is, but for a fee.
Anything you see on the news - itnsource.com has it (and much much more) and will license it. At this stage, for a script, yu don't need to license footage, and when you do, a 'display' license from them would cover small festivals etc.

Thanks Paddy. Something I didn't know and should be good news for me except I'm not sure of my way around itnsource.com yet. At least I had problems trying to access or even find what I was looking for. But I'm sure It's my fault. For instance I entered 'road accidents' and initially was told there were '0' examples. Try again.

Try searching for 'clip' instead of 'story' - I found 2500 clips for 'road accident'. Some will be irrelevant, some will be old, some new, but there may be a good one there...
